ShockBox … because not all change is smooth

Covid, floods, collapsing banks, supply chain interruptions, cyberattacks … These are just a handful of examples of high impact low probability events that we all witnessed and experienced up close in the past years. Many shook our organizations and societies to their core. These shocks simultaneously expose the weaknesses in our systems and open up opportunities for new pathways forward.

  • Could there be a way to understand such shocks better?
  • Could we analyze them in a more structural way?
  • Is there a way to anticipate not just known but also future shocks and grow our organizations more resilient to them?

At PANTOPICON, we believe there is … we call it ShockBox: a set of strategic discussion support tools to raise your organization’s awareness and understanding of shocks, empowering you to anticipate future disruptions and grow your resilience in a systemic way.

WHO

ShockBox is intended for businesses, organizations and networks who wish to:

  • Better understand the nature of shocks as high impact, low probability events
  • Stress-test their organization when hit by a shock
  • Increase their resilience in anticipation of future shocks
  • Bring together stakeholders potentially affected by or involved in dealing with envisioned shocks

WHAT

The ShockBox contains a series of strategic discussion support tools:

1. A standard deck of ±30 shock cards (general and thematic QR-based digital expansion packs available at additional cost)

2. A series of printed, large-scale canvases – to be used in groups – each guiding and stimulating collaborative learning around key questions such as:

  • How sensitive is our organization to shocks within its larger systemic context?
  • How does a shock arise and unfold in our systemic context?
Which weaknesses in our system does it expose?
  • Which confluence of future trends could lead to a shock that could truly cripple our system?
  • How could we make our system – and our organization – more resilient for shocks?
How does the way we frame shocks influence our anticipatory solution space?
  • How much better would we fare if we put these measures into place?
  • How could we ‘benefit’ from a shock and come out stronger on the other end?

HOW

ShockBox is a product-service package of facilitated workshops. Available packages come in a variety of types and sizes depending on goals and intentions of use:

  • S: A one-day tasting session of two key tools (i.e. sensitivity scan & anatomy of a shock)
  • M: A three-day mini-trajectory utilizing the full set of strategic discussion support tools
  • L: A deep dive into a specific shock
  • XL: An organization-wide training in the systemic assessment of shocks

Pricing: Upon request.
